New Feature: Generate Recipes from Your Brand's Top Products
You launched a smoked chipotle powder three months ago and it still has no recipe. You know it belongs in a marinade. You have just not found the free afternoon to write one, test the quantities, and format it for the blog. Meanwhile the product page says "smoky, medium heat" and leaves shoppers to work out the rest.
Recipe Kit drafts the recipe for you. Pick the product from your store, list a few ingredients, and in about a minute you have a full draft: title, description, ingredients with measurements, step-by-step directions, prep and cook times, servings, estimated calories, chef's tips and SEO keywords. You read it, change what you want, and publish it like any other recipe.

Start from what you sell
Most recipe generators start from a blank prompt. This one starts from your catalog. Click Browse products, pick the chipotle powder, and the draft is built around it, using the product's exact name in the ingredients and the method.
I would start every draft this way. A recipe that calls for "chili powder" helps a home cook. A recipe that calls for your Smoked Chipotle Chili Powder, three tablespoons of it, sends that cook to your product page. Pick two products if they go together: a hot sauce and the dry rub it finishes, an olive oil and the bread flour it was made for.
Shape it for your shoppers
Then tell it what the dish is. Main ingredients are a comma-separated list. A style is optional and works best as a phrase: "summer BBQ", "cozy weeknight dinner", "kid-friendly". Beyond that you can set a skill level, servings, a time limit, a cuisine, dietary restrictions and the equipment to feature, so a slow cooker brand gets slow cooker recipes and a gluten-free bakery gets gluten-free ones.

The draft comes back on one page so you can judge it at a glance. Not right? Generate again writes a fresh take from the same form. Happy with it? Use recipe opens it in the recipe editor with everything filled in, the chef's tips already in the recipe notes and the SEO keywords already in place. Nothing goes on your store until you save.
The draft is written in whatever language you fill the form in, which helps if your store sells in French or German.
Shoppable from the first save
This is the part that sells product. When the draft lands in the editor, every product you picked is already linked to the ingredient that uses it. Shoppers reading the recipe on your blog can add the chipotle powder to their cart from the ingredient list, and Recipe Kit's analytics can tell you which recipes drive those sales.

Linking products is the job merchants leave for later, and later rarely comes. Here the link is in place before you have touched the draft. Link the rest of the ingredients with Link product if you stock them too.
Treat it as a draft
AI writes recipes that sound right. Nobody has cooked them yet. Read the quantities and the method before you publish, and make the dish once if you can. A recipe that fails in a customer's kitchen costs you more than having no recipe.
Two other things it leaves to you. It writes text, not photos, and Google will not show a recipe as a rich result without one, so add your own. And calories are an estimate. For full nutrition facts, run the nutrition analysis in the recipe editor.
Ideas to try
- A recipe for every new launch. Draft one the day a product goes live, so the product page has something to link to from day one.
- Seasonal pairings. The same rub as a summer BBQ recipe in June and a holiday roast in December. Change the style, keep the product.
- Recipes for different cooks. One beginner version and one advanced version of the same dish, for a blog that serves both.
- Bundles. Pick two or three products that sell together and let the recipe make the case for buying them as a set.
Getting it
AI drafting is part of the Growth plan, and you can draft as many recipes as you like. Stores on Free and Essentials get three free drafts to try it. Open Recipe Kit, click New recipe and choose Draft it with AI. If you already have recipes written down somewhere, use Import a recipe instead, which brings in a recipe from a link, photo, PDF or pasted text on every plan.
The AI recipe generation help article covers every setting.
The recipe your product needs is a minute away. Get Recipe Kit on the Shopify App Store and draft your first one.
