Halloween Marketing Ideas for Food Brands in 2026: Recipes, Deals and Posts

Halloween is coming soon! If you sell food, candy or ingredients online, you still have a few days to turn the holiday into orders, and a useful recipe is the fastest way to do it.

Shoppers are spending, but carefully.

That is your opening. A deeper discount is not the only reason to buy. A recipe gives shoppers a plan for Saturday night: what to make, what to serve, and which of your products they need for it.

Search demand backs this up. Your customers are looking for things to make, not campaigns.

Halloween social posts and emails you can send this week

Every post and email below points to one place: a recipe on your store with products linked.

Social posts

  • A 15-second video of the recipe from start to finish, with "recipe on our site" in the caption.
  • A before-and-after photo: your product in the pack, then in the finished treat.
  • A "3 ways to use our [product] this Halloween" carousel.
  • A poll: "Trick or treat? Which are you making on Saturday?" with two of your recipes as the options.
  • A countdown post on Friday: "Last day to order for Halloween" plus your pickup or shipping cutoff.

You don't need a designer for any of these. Recipe Kit's new share images turn a recipe into a Portrait feed post, a Story, a Pinterest pin or a full carousel at the right size for each platform. The carousel downloads as numbered slides, ending with one that sends people to the full recipe on your store. Each image comes with a ready-made caption and a tagged link, so Instagram visits show up as their own source in Shopify Analytics.

For Halloween week, post one recipe as a Portrait post and a Story on the same day, and turn your best recipe into a carousel.

Emails

  1. "Your Halloween plan, sorted" (Monday or Tuesday): one recipe, the products it uses, one button.
  2. "The party table in 20 minutes" (Wednesday or Thursday): a short roundup of two or three recipes for a party or potluck.
  3. "Last call for Saturday" (Friday): shipping cutoff, the bundle and your most-clicked recipe.
  4. "Got leftover candy?" (November 1): a leftover-candy recipe and a day-after offer.

Use one recipe per email. A single clear next step is easier to act on than a list of everything you sell.

A five-day plan for last-minute Halloween sales

You don't need a full campaign. You need two or three recipes, live in your store, linked to products, and pushed through the channels you already own.

The Recipe Kit recipe list with five Halloween recipes: four published and Salted Caramel Apples still hidden
  1. Monday:
Pick your hero products. Choose two or three products a customer could use on Halloween night: a candy, a chocolate, a spice blend, a baking mix, a sauce, a syrup. Check stock and shipping. If an order placed on Wednesday can't arrive by Saturday, lean on products customers already have in the pantry or offer local pickup.
  2. Tuesday:
Publish the recipes. Write one simple recipe per product. Keep it to ingredients most people already own plus your product. Add a clear photo, prep time and serving size.
  3. Wednesday:
Make them shoppable. Link each ingredient you sell to its product page, so a reader can add everything to the cart from the recipe.
  4. Thursday:
Share them everywhere. Send one email, turn each recipe into Instagram posts and a Story, and add a banner or link from your homepage and relevant product pages. If you sell in person, print a QR code that leads to the recipe.
  5. Friday:
Last call. Send a short reminder with a shipping cutoff or pickup option, and the one recipe that performed best so far.

On Sunday, November 1, switch the angle to leftover candy and keep the pumpkin recipes running into Thanksgiving.

Halloween deals that don't rely on deep discounts

Discounts get steeper as the holidays approach. Adobe expects average discounts to climb from about 14% in early November to 30% during Cyber Week. Halloween is a chance to sell on usefulness before that race starts.

  • Recipe bundle. Group every product a recipe needs into one bundle, such as a "caramel apple kit" or a "spooky cookie box", and link it from the recipe. Search for "halloween bundle" is small, but "boo basket" gets about 74,000 US searches a month.
  • Free gift with a recipe card. Instead of 20% off, add a recipe card or a sample to Halloween orders. A QR code on the card takes the customer straight to the full recipe, and the products in it.
  • Party-size pack. Bigger packs of candy or snacks for parties and trick-or-treaters. "Halloween candy bulk" gets about 3,600 searches a month.
  • Free shipping threshold set at a full recipe. Set the threshold at the price of everything one recipe needs.
  • Allergy-friendly option. If you sell allergy-friendly, vegan or sugar-free products, say so in the deal. Parents look for these.
  • Day-after deal. Plan a November 1 offer on leftover stock, paired with a "what to do with leftover candy" recipe.

Put a recipe QR code on everything you hand out

Halloween sells a lot offline: treat bags, gift boxes, market stalls and shelves at stockists. A QR code turns each of those into a path back to your store.

Recipe Kit's new QR codes for food labels send a shopper straight to one recipe, or to your whole recipe blog. A few ways to use them this week:

  • Treat bags and gift boxes. Add a small card with a recipe code and a caption like "Scan for 5 Halloween treats". The caption gives people a reason to scan.
  • Market stalls and pop-ups. A shelf card with your blog code answers "what do I make with this?" while you're busy serving.
  • Stockists' shelves. A card next to your product gives a grocery shopper a way onto your site.
  • Next year's packaging. Put the blog code on your labels once. New recipes show up behind it without reprinting.

For a last-minute run, download the print sheet of 12 codes, print it on sticker paper and cut. You'll have labels the same afternoon. Recipe Kit counts every scan, so by November you'll know whether the codes were used.

After Halloween: keep the recipes working

The recipes you publish this week don't expire on Saturday.

  • Leftover candy (November 1). "What to do with leftover halloween candy" gets about 1,000 US searches a month. Candy cookie bars, candy bark and milkshakes all fit.
  • Day of the Dead (November 1 and 2). Brands selling Mexican ingredients, chocolate or spices can publish a traditional recipe.
  • Pumpkin into Thanksgiving (November 26). Pumpkin recipes keep working through fall. "Pumpkin pie recipe" is one of the biggest food searches of the season, at about 246,000 a month.
  • Next year. Keep every Halloween recipe live. By October 2027 it will have had a year to get indexed.

Your last-minute Halloween checklist

  • Two or three hero products chosen, stock and shipping checked
  • One recipe published per product, with photo, prep time and servings
  • Every ingredient you sell linked to its product page
  • A bundle or gift-with-purchase offer built around a recipe, with a QR recipe card in the box
  • Recipes linked from your homepage and product pages
  • Share images downloaded and social posts scheduled for Tuesday through Friday
  • Email sent, plus a Friday last-call reminder
  • A leftover-candy recipe ready for November 1

With Recipe Kit, you can publish a structured recipe on your Shopify store in minutes, link ingredients to your products and let shoppers add everything to the cart from the recipe. Recipe schema is added for you, so the page is ready for search. On Growth, Recipe Kit also creates share images that turn a recipe into Instagram posts, carousels and pins, and QR codes for labels and recipe cards that count every scan.
