What's inside

What’s in the spice edition

5 pages. The cover is the whole year at a glance. The last page is a benchmark to hold your own recipes against.

  1. Spice recipes get printed more

The typical spice brand gets 21 prints per 1,000 recipe views. The typical food or drink brand gets 17. Fewer people see each spice recipe, but more of them plan to cook it.

  2. Thanksgiving is already moving

Turkey brine, turkey rub and pumpkin pie spice searches start climbing in September and peak in November. The card says publish now.

  3. Three spice recipes per occasion

Each with its searches in the peak month and the spices it uses. Gingerbread cookies: 450,000 searches in December 2025.

  4. Two occasions to skip

Mother's Day and back to school stay quiet for seasoning searches. Spend that time on the busy ones.

  5. A checklist for each occasion

Seven steps, from naming the recipe the way people search (“turkey rub”, not “our signature holiday blend”) to updating the same page next year.

Questions about the calendar

What does the print rate tell me?

A print is a plan to cook. On the Recipe Kit network, the typical spice brand gets 21 prints per 1,000 recipe views, and the typical food or drink brand gets 17. Views per recipe run the other way: 15 a month for spice brands, 22 for all food brands. The data is anonymised and aggregated, from August 10 to September 11, 2026. It doesn't show sales.

Thanksgiving says “Now”. Is it too late?

The publish-by date has passed, because turkey rub and turkey brine searches start climbing in September. The peak month, November, is still ahead. Publish this week rather than skip it.

Where do the search numbers come from?

US Google search volumes from Google Ads keyword data, pulled through DataForSEO for September 2025 to August 2026. The volumes are Google's rounded monthly estimates. Each occasion curve adds up the searches for its three recipe ideas. The calendar shows what people search for. It doesn't show what sells in your store.

Do I need Recipe Kit to use it?

No. Use it with any recipe page. If you want each recipe to link the blend it uses, so a reader can add it to their cart, that's what Recipe Kit does. Try it free on the Shopify App Store.

Is there an edition for other categories?

Yes. Besides this one, there are editions for sauces and condiments, baking, coffee and tea, meat and seafood and snacks. There's also a general edition for all food brands.
