What's inside

What’s in the sauce edition

5 pages. A year-at-a-glance cover, the occasion cards, a checklist and a benchmark from the Recipe Kit network.

  1. One dip, two holidays

Buffalo chicken dip peaks for New Year’s and again for the Super Bowl. Its searches start climbing in September, so both cards say publish now.

  2. Thanksgiving is the biggest month

Cranberry sauce (1,000,000 searches in November 2025), turkey injection and turkey gravy. Publish by October 15, 2026.

  3. Grilling season, with dates

Pasta salad, potato salad and chicken marinade climb from May. Publish by May 1, 2027.

  4. A benchmark for sauce recipes

Views per recipe and print rate for the typical sauce brand on the Recipe Kit network, next to the typical food or drink brand.

  5. Two occasions to skip

Mother's Day and back to school stay flat for sauce recipes. The PDF says why.

Who it’s for

For brands whose product does the heavy lifting in a dish.

  • For you if

You sell hot sauce, marinades, dressings, glazes or condiments on Shopify.

  • For you if

You want recipes where your sauce carries the dish, not just the garnish.

  • For you if

You’re planning game-day content and want the date to start.

  • Not for you if

You want to know which of your products sells best. This shows Google search demand, not your sales.

Questions about the calendar

Why does the Super Bowl card say “Now”?

Buffalo chicken dip searches start climbing in September and peak in December and February. The calendar sets the publish-by date at the start of the climb, so that date has passed. A dip published now is still early for February.

What’s on the benchmark page?

Two numbers from the Recipe Kit network: views per recipe per month, and prints per 1,000 recipe views. Each one shows the typical sauce brand next to the typical food or drink brand. The data is anonymised and aggregated, from August 10 to September 11, 2026.

Where do the search numbers come from?

US Google search volumes from Google Ads keyword data, pulled through DataForSEO for September 2025 to August 2026. The volumes are Google's rounded monthly estimates. Each occasion curve adds up the searches for its three recipe ideas. The calendar shows what people search for. It doesn't show what sells in your store.

Do I need Recipe Kit to use it?

No. Use it with any recipe page. If you want the sauce in each recipe linked so a reader can add it to their cart, that's what Recipe Kit does. Try it free on the Shopify App Store.

Is there an edition for other categories?

Yes. Besides this one, there are editions for spices and seasonings, baking, coffee and tea, meat and seafood and snacks. There's also a general edition for all food brands.
